casino design

Project: Southland Park Gaming and Racing

Size: 200,000 SF

Owner: Delaware North • Architect: SOSHNY

Burke Structural Engineers P.C. designed the casino addition and central plant. The casino building is a steel framed building; the roof framing consists of steel joist and steel beams supporting a steel roof deck.

180 ft clear span roof trusses were used to create a column free gaming floor; this allowed 10% more gaming machines to be installed.

The lateral force resisting systems consists of special concentric braced frames. A deep foundation system was used because of poor onsite soil conditions. The foundation system consists of 70 ft auger-cast displacement piles supporting pile caps and grade beams.
